My team (The Celtics) won our basketball game final!

thanks to www.celticsgreen.proboards18.com, www.nancarrow-webdesk.com and www.nba.com for the photos

As I walked in, I didnt know that we were playing finals. Really noone in our team knew, not even our parents. I saw the other team (Parnell conquers) outside getting pumped up like rockets by their coach. They all looked like year 6s but i thought we could still win but probably it would be a close game. The hooter rang and I felt like Kobe Brayent (in the lakers instead of the celtics) storming onto the court. My team warmed up and we were ready to roll. In the first 10mins, we were point for point. I could hear the parents screaming like loud speakers. At half time we were up by 6points. Our coach (a guy called Steve) told us that we had to play hard on defense and we will win this game on defense! Guess what ...........WE WON just like Steve said. We tharshed them 34-18 HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we were named after celtics thanks to them for the name

Joshua Klein. Have you heard about him ? If you have heard about him he must be smart, really smart. He researched crows for ten years. It must of been long very long!

Joshua got this idea from when he was with his friends at a cocktail party. His friend told him about the crows, his friend wanted to kill them. Joshua said "Couldn't we train them for something useful". His friend said that it was impossible.

Joshua made a vending machine for crows. It had four stages. First it was surrounded by coins and nuts. The crows just kept on coming until he would then change into the next stage. The next step was that a coin would pop out then the crows would hit it and they would get a nut.The last and final step was that when a crow would come and nothing would happen. The crows would get a smart idea from step 1 to get the coins and then get the nut.

SUIPI, an old persons game?

If you are Samoan, you probably would know this card game. You need a deck of cards that go up to 13 and at least 2 players. There are 23 points in a game.A joker is a 13. 12 points or more will win you the game and this is how you play.
thanks for www.istockphoto.com for the photo

1. Shuffle the deck of cards
2. Put 4 cards flipped up and deal 10 cards to yourself and your opponent
3. The person not dealing goes first. You can pick up a matching card (one on the table and one in your hand) or you can put another numbered card on top of a another numbered card to add up to a card you have in your hand. Example if there is a 4 on the table and you are holding a 9 and a 13, you can put your 9 on top of the 4 to make 13.
4. The dealer gets his turn and he can do the same. Pick up a matching card or pick up the 13 the other person made if he has a 13 or make his own one.
5. When all your 10 cards are finished, the dealer repeats dealing the 10 cards till the pack is finished.
6. Now here is how you get points.

3points = most cards, you need more than 32 cards
1point = most spades, you need more than 8
1point for each ace
1point for 2 of spades only
5points for the 13 of diamonds only
4points foe the 12 of diamonds only
3points for the 11 of diamonds only
2points for the 10 of diamonds only

To get a suipi, you have to pick up the last card or cards in the round before the next deal. This is worth 1 point each and its also the name of the game. These points are extra. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game WINS!

Old persons game, I think not. If you get good at it. I'm up for the challenge. Bring it on!

Hint: To be a good player, you have to have good addition and memory skills

"Hey Latham, good luck and have a good game against Bay Roskill,ok!". My brother {Latham} was in the finals. He and the under 13s were the only team from Ellerslie Club to make it in the finals. It was so cool. The other team were good too, it was a fantastic game. They played really well but they lost 26-20. Ellerslie Eagles shouted them a bbq for making it to the finals.

cross country

"On your marks, get set, go!" Principal Mr Burt yelled. We had to run a long way and I mean a long way. Man, we had to run around our field, then go out of the school bounds to our reserve and then come in to the finish line. I was with the 9 year old boys and I was jogging with my friend Tyler P.

I was lucky that it did not rain.I was getting wind in my face when I was jogging and that was part of the weather that I liked because it cooled me down when I was jogging .It was like having an air conditioner that was on full blast. There was no sun so I could see easily where the finish line was.

When I was nearly there, I felt like I was about to slow down and I felt like the slowest creature in the world. People were saying "Come on Leoden, push it!" so I did. I sprinted to the end with all I had left. I was so proud of myself!

Term 3 Immersion Assembly

Cool our topic is we are the champions.we are doing this because the 2008 Beijing olympics is starting. all of the school had an immersion assembly so the teachers dressed up to look like champions.
Mr Burt was Mark Todd but I did not know who he was until Feki got the answer right when he was guessing but now I know who he is.He is an equestrian and he has got more golden medals than any New Zealander that lives right now also even thought he is old he is going to try again at these olympics so he is not giving up just like our saying champions never give up.That was the person that I liked the best.
after all the teachers finshed we had to leave for class

Helicopter

Holy Camoly, a helicopter at Pt England . When I looked at it in the air it looked like a toy police helicopter. When it finally landed, it was like a hurricane. Then as it was grounded, the pilot came out and told us all about the it. It was cool because they had an infored camera so they could see in the dark. When you looked through it, the ground was black and the people were white. After that, we got to have a look inside. I saw heaps of things and they were cool. They were going and when they lifted they nearly cut the post but they did not so they went up, up and away

Hot Air Balloon

On Wednesday the 7th of May we got to see a real hot air balloon on our field. The people who showed us it were 2 guys called Darryl and Matt. I was exited to see a hot air balloon floating in the air.
The first thing they did was set it up. After that they put the cold air in it. It was cool because when there was enough air it kind of looked like a colourful ocean. When I also looked inside it was like a dome shaped bouncy castle except that it was stinky like socks that have been in your room for a year and they havent been into the washing machine. When eveybody had looked inside the hot air balloon it was time to heat the air in it with 2 burners. When it was finished they tested it before it lifted. When it was in the air it covered the whole sun it was that big.

"Up,Up and Away", here is another term of super cool learning. We are learning about flight and how things fly. I have been waiting to learn about helicopters, planes, hang gliders and more.
At our immersion assembly I saw Mrs Tele'a as MSG and that stands for Manu Samoa Girl.
